The parameters of the groove can be precisely designed and processed according to specific applications, and can achieve functions such as optical path guidance, beam limitation, polarization control, etc. Widely used in the field of optical fiber communication, such as in fiber couplers, for precise alignment of optical fibers and improving coupling efficiency.
1. Structural features:
Slots are machined in the optical window (round, square, etc.) by cutting, milling or etching processes, which can be through slots (penetrating) or blind slots (partial depth).
2. Common slot shapes:
(1) Straight grooves: single or multiple parallel grooves (such as bar grooves).
(2) Cross grooves: orthogonal double grooves forming a four-quadrant split.
(3) Circular grooves: Concentric or eccentric circular grooves.
(4) Shaped slots: customized according to requirements (e.g. L-shaped, curved, etc.).
3. Material selection:
(1) Substrate materials are consistent with conventional window sheets and need to meet optical properties:
(2) UV-Vis: fused silica (UVFS), calcium fluoride (CaF₂).
(3) Infrared band: zinc selenide (ZnSe), germanium (Ge).
(4) General purpose visible light: K9 glass, borosilicate glass.
